النسبة المئوية للمتقدمين المقبولين في جامعة ما. النسب الأدنى تدل على انتقائية أعلى، إذ تقبل أكثر الجامعات تنافسية أقل من 10% من المتقدمين.
يمثل معدل القبول نسبة المتقدمين الذين يحصلون على عرض قبول، وهو أكثر مقاييس انتقائية المؤسسة تداولًا. فقد انخفض معدل قبول هارفارد إلى أقل من 4% في السنوات الأخيرة، بينما تقبل جامعات حكومية كثيرة 50-80% من المتقدمين. ولا يدل معدل القبول المنخفض بالضرورة على جودة تعليم أعلى — فقد يعكس ببساطة حجمًا كبيرًا من الطلبات أو مكانة العلامة. وقد تحوّلت بعض الجامعات إلى سياسات عدم إلزامية الاختبارات، ما قد يزيد الطلبات ويخفض معدلات القبول.
