Joint Degree

A joint degree is a single qualification jointly conferred by two or more partner universities, distinguishing it from a double degree where separate qualifications are awarded. Students typically study at multiple campuses, benefiting from the combined faculty expertise, research facilities, and networks of all partner institutions. Joint degrees are common in graduate programs and increasingly in undergraduate education, particularly within European university alliances. The administrative complexity of joint degrees — including credit recognition and quality assurance across borders — has led to structured frameworks under the Bologna Process.
