Higher Education in Guyana

Guyana's higher education is anchored by the University of Guyana (UG), founded in 1963, alongside the University of the West Indies Open Campus and several technical institutes. English is the language of instruction. Growing oil and gas revenues since the early 2020s have increased government investment in higher education, and the system currently serves approximately 12,000 university students.
