Higher Education in Iraq
Iraq's higher education system is governed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and comprises around 30 public universities alongside a growing number of private institutions. The University of Baghdad, founded in 1957, remains the country's largest and most influential. Decades of conflict disrupted academic infrastructure, but significant reconstruction efforts since 2003 have expanded enrollment and rebuilt campuses. Arabic is the primary medium of instruction.
