Frequently Asked Questions

The Research Overview dashboard shows publications count (total works), citations (cited_by_count), h-index, i10-index (papers with 10+ citations), and 2-year mean citedness for each university. All data is sourced from OpenAlex.
The h-index is a metric that measures both the productivity and citation impact of publications. A university with an h-index of 50 has at least 50 publications that have each been cited at least 50 times. It provides a balanced measure of quantity and quality of research output.
Research metrics from OpenAlex are available for approximately 9,700 universities that were matched via Research Organization Registry (ROR) identifiers. This covers the majority of research-active institutions worldwide.
