Country University Statistics

The Country Stats dashboard displays total university count, number of ranked universities, top-ranked institution with its global position, percentage of universities with logos, and the distribution of university types. You can sort countries by any metric.

Statistics are calculated from our database of 37,000+ universities. University counts are based on degree-granting institutions recognized by national authorities. Rankings data comes from UniRanks, QS, THE, and ARWU. Research metrics are from OpenAlex.

India, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, and Indonesia typically have the highest numbers of higher education institutions. However, rankings and quality metrics vary significantly. The tool allows you to compare countries across multiple dimensions beyond just institution count.
