Higher Education in Madagascar

Madagascar's higher education system is centered on six public regional universities established under a 1988 decentralisation reform, with the University of Antananarivo as the largest. The Ministry of National Education governs the sector. Chronic underfunding and limited research infrastructure constrain capacity, though private institutions have grown to supplement public provision. French is the primary medium of instruction, alongside Malagasy in some programs.
