Higher Education in Malta
The University of Malta, founded in 1592, is the country's only university and one of the oldest in the Commonwealth. It offers programs across arts, sciences, law, medicine, and engineering to approximately 11,000 students. The National Commission for Further and Higher Education (NCFHE) accredits other higher education institutions and the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST). English and Maltese are both official languages; instruction is primarily in English.
