Higher Education in Oman
Oman's higher education has expanded rapidly since the founding of Sultan Qaboos University in 1986, with the sector now encompassing over 40 colleges and universities, a mix of public and private institutions. The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) oversee standards; instruction is primarily in English for science and technology programmes. Vision 2040 priorities have driven reforms aimed at improving research capacity, Omanisation of the workforce, and partnerships with foreign universities.
