Higher Education in Rwanda
Rwanda has rapidly expanded its higher education sector since the post-genocide reconstruction period, with the University of Rwanda (formed in 2013 by merging seven public institutions) as the central public university. The Higher Education Council (HEC) oversees accreditation; a landmark language policy shift in 2009 moved instruction from French to English across the system. Rwanda's Vision 2050 places knowledge-economy development at the centre of national strategy, driving investment in STEM, ICT, and entrepreneurship programmes.
