Higher Education in Slovenia
Slovenia has a compact but well-developed higher education system, with the University of Ljubljana (founded 1919) and the University of Maribor as its leading public universities, alongside the University of Primorska and two other institutions. The Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (NAKVIS) oversees accreditation, and the system is fully aligned with the Bologna Process. Instruction is in Slovenian, with English widely used at postgraduate level; tuition is free for regular full-time domestic students, and participation rates are among the higher ones in Central Europe.
