Higher Education in Yemen
Yemen's higher education operated through around 67 universities and colleges before the outbreak of civil war in 2015, with the University of Sana'a (1970) as the oldest and largest institution. The conflict has devastated academic infrastructure, displaced faculty and students, and fractured oversight between the internationally recognised government and Houthi-controlled areas. Arabic is the language of instruction, and much of the system operates in a state of severe disruption with limited international academic exchange.
