Higher Education in United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates has built a diverse higher education landscape of around 100 institutions since the 1970s, ranging from UAE University (1976), the country's first national university, to major international branch campuses such as New York University Abu Dhabi and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) oversees quality assurance under the Ministry of Education. Instruction is predominantly in English, and the UAE's strategic investment in higher education reflects its ambition to become a regional knowledge economy hub.
